Getting to the Root of Your Questions
Insurance & Payment
Is my insurance accepted at your office?
Absolutely. Our practice accepts many leading dental insurance plans such as Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, and more. For a complete list, please visit /insurance or contact us at (512) 858-6987 to verify your benefits.
Can I still receive care if I don’t have dental insurance?
No worries at all—our Gloss Dental Membership plans begin at just $25/month and include exams, cleanings, routine X-rays, plus savings on other care.
Can I spread my payments out over time?
Absolutely. For eligible patients, we partner with CareCredit and other trusted lenders to provide manageable payment options.
Checkups & Treatments
How often do I need to see the dentist?
We generally suggest dental visits at least twice a year. Identifying issues like tooth decay or gum problems early can reduce treatment complexity and cost, but recall schedules may vary depending on your needs.
How many times a day should I brush my teeth?
According to the ADA, brushing at least twice each day is recommended. It’s best to wait about 30 minutes after acidic drinks or foods before brushing to avoid enamel damage.
Which Is the Better Choice: Electric or Manual Toothbrush?
Both manual and electric brushes can be effective with proper technique, but studies indicate electric models often provide superior plaque removal. Sonicare and Oral-B offer technology that helps clean difficult spots and support better brushing habits.
At what age should my child see the dentist for the first time?
We recommend a child’s first dental visit by about age 3, or whenever they can sit calmly in the dental chair. Starting early helps us watch development and establish positive oral habits.
How can I address persistent bad breath?
Odor from the mouth is often linked to plaque, periodontal disease, or bacterial growth. Addressing it may involve routine dental cleanings, brushing your tongue, flossing with mouthwash, and cutting back on spicy foods. Ongoing bad breath can point to a bigger issue and should be checked by a dentist.
Can you explain what a night guard is?
This clear, personalized oral device is designed to be worn at night, helping stop teeth grinding and clenching while reducing TMJ tension and protecting your smile from excess wear.
What treatment options do I have for replacing missing teeth?
Our practice offers fixed tooth replacements, including implants and bridges, along with removable choices like dentures and partials. Fixed restorations function most like real teeth, and we’ll help you choose the right option for your needs.
How exactly do dental implants work?
The implant process happens in two steps. A titanium anchor is surgically positioned in the jaw, followed by the attachment of a crown, bridge, or denture. Dental implants closely mimic natural teeth and offer a long-lasting solution for missing teeth.
What are the signs that indicate gum disease?
Signs to watch for are bleeding gums when you brush or floss, ongoing bad breath, and teeth that feel sensitive or unstable. Since gum disease often develops quietly, routine dental visits help with early diagnosis and care.
Is it safe to have dental X-rays taken?
Absolutely. Modern digital X-ray technology uses minimal radiation—significantly below normal daily sun exposure—and our office follows strict protocols while relying on up-to-date systems to keep you safe.
